Travel Insurance

To maximize your choices, we recommend evaluating travel insurance options immediately. Principia has partnered with USI Travel Insurance Services and they can be reached by clicking here or calling 855-874-0156 (please let the representative know that you are with Principia for the best rates).

Travelers not electing travel insurance will be asked to sign a disclaimer acknowledging that Principia and our travel partner Holy Kemet are not responsible for expenses relating to issues such as suitcase loss, theft, medical expenses, accidents, flight cancellation, etc.

Luggage Allowance

Due to domestic travel requirements, each traveler is allowed one suitcase and one carry-on, with a maximum weight limit of 50 pounds or 62 linear inches total for both.

Transfers

Transfers between the airport, hotel, and piers are included in the standard program for group transport. However, travelers requesting changes from the standard program are responsible for their own transfers, even if coinciding with group transfers.  Note: Arrival and departure transfer details for each traveler must be submitted 60 days before the tour starts. Any sudden changes/amendments to the arrival/departure date must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance to allow for rescheduling. Failure to provide timely notification may result in a surcharge of $50 USD per person per transfer for such service, and no refund for the unused service.

Domestic Airline Tickets Policy

Domestic airline tickets from Egypt Air will be printed approximately 90 to 75 days prior to departure. Once printed, tickets cannot be changed or refunded. Air transportation to/from your destination will be in economy class aboard IATA and ARC carriers, utilizing APEX or SUPER APEX nonrefundable, non-amendable tickets for groups of 10 or more passengers flying together for the entire itinerary. In Egypt, there is only one airline company that operates the domestic flights, and it goes by three different names - Egypt Air, Nile Air, or Air Cairo. These are all subsidiary brands of the same national carrier, Egypt Air.

Activity Level

This tour's activity level is classified as Moderate, indicating a moderate level of physical exertion. Walking is an integral aspect of this trip, and participants should be in relatively good health to fully enjoy the experience. Engaging in a demanding daily schedule of physical activities is expected, which may include walking distances of 3-5 miles, navigating stairs and uneven terrain, and embarking/disembarking from motor vehicles and boats.

In some ports, dahabiyas may be moored side by side, necessitating crossings with gaps between them. Guests undertake such crossings at their own risk, with crew assistance recommended. During rough weather, movement on the ship should be minimized due to potentially slippery surfaces.

The optional post tour to Sinai may involve climbing in the Sinai Mountains for approximately 3-4 hours at an altitude of 7750 feet.

While alternative, more leisurely options may be available for certain activities, travelers should be prepared for an active trip.
