Vivian Hapeman Obern

Vivian (Hapeman, US'38, C'42) Obern was given the DKA Award in 1996. In her early community involvement Vie was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and in the local PTA in Santa Barbara, California. She has always been a leader in historical preservation as well as trails activities and acquisition and protection of open space. From 1983 to 1995 she served two terms as president of the Santa Barbara Trust for Historical Preservation. She and her husband George (C'42) were honored at the 1994 National Horse Show for their "lifelong commitment to the Santa Barbara horse community." In 1989 Vie was named Santa Barbara Woman of the Year. One of their three children, Vaughn (C'66), graduated from the College.
