What are the Summer Session dates for 2024?
Summer Session will take place June 15–23, 2024 on the Principia College campus in Elsah, IL.
Who is eligible to apply for Summer Session?
Principia welcomes all adult Christian Scientists, Principia alumni, and friends.
How much does Summer Session cost?
See the rates page for pricing and take advantage of the early bird discount when you register by April 1. Costs vary depending on whether one attends as a boarder or a day student. For boarding students, the most economical tuition is to share a room with another attendee in one of Principia College's beautiful dorms.
If you're aware of someone who could benefit from a needs-based scholarship, reach out to the PLL office to explore opportunities for support.
why is summer session one week this year?
After a thorough evaluation of various aspects of our program, we have decided this year to offer a single eight-day session for all participants. This comprehensive session will encompass a week of classes along with weekend activities and travel.
WHEN SHOULD I ARE THERE ANY OFF-CAMPUS EXCURSIONS?
Yes, there are several opportunities for off-campus excursions, including the musical production of Les Misérables at The Muny in Forest Park, the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, IL, a morning visit to the St. Louis Art Museum, a gondola sky tour of Grafton, and a historic tour of Alton. You'll want to read the Attendee Information page.
Then pack your bags and we'll see you in Elsah in June!
IF I'M NO LONGER ABLE TO ATTEND, WILL MY REGISTRATION BE REFUNDED?
If you need to withdraw from the program you may cancel before April 1 without penalty. After April 1, 2024 the standard cancellation fees apply:
- Cancellation between April 1-14, 2024: full refund less $100 deposit
- Cancellation between April 15-30, 2024: full refund less 25% of total price
- Cancellation between May 1-14, 2024: full refund less 50% of total price
- Cancellation between May 15-31, 2024: full refund less 75% of total price
- Cancellation on June 1, 2024 or later: 100% of total price
ARE PETS ALLOWED?
Pets are not allowed in dorms, buildings, or classrooms.
DO GUESTS NEED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN BOOKS AND STUDY MATERIALS?
Some books may be suggested by faculty, but none are required. Some classes may have a materials fee. You will receive an email from the PLL office by April 1, if one of your courses requires a materials fee.
ARE VEGETARIAN/VEGAN OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
Yes, these options are available. Please specify your preferences when you register for Summer Session.
IS AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE?
Yes, shuttle transportation from St. Louis Lambert International Airport to the College is available for $35 per person, each way. Please sign up for a shuttle when you register for Summer Session. If you need to add shuttle transportation to your reservation email pll@principia.edu.
Can i attend both Summer Session and the College Reunion?
Yes! Alumni and guests are invited to join us for Summer Session and Reunion. Reunion takes place June 27-30 (50th reunioners arrive on June 26). If you plan to attend both Summer Session and Reunion, you will receive a $50 discount on your Summer Session tuition. If you’re interested in staying on campus between Summer Session and Reunion Weekend, please email reunion@principia.edu for more information.
