Last month, Los Angeles-based session singer and voiceover artist Suzanne Waters (US'96, C'00), stole the spotlight––dazzling students at the School and College with vocal performances and stories of her impressive career.
Waters was the star of the Principia College concert and lecture series presentation, "Singing in Hollywood: In Conversation with Suzanne Waters". As part of her interactive presentation, she dazzled students with a reel of her work, singing in Disney’s Frozen franchise, in the Super Bowl Halftime show alongside The Weeknd, and working with stars including Lady Gaga and legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
Zimmer took special notice of Waters's perfect pitch and tone, constructing a custom-built musical instrument from her voice for use on the feature film Dune: Part Two.
On the College campus, Waters even treated Music Theory students to a recording session. Speaking to students, Waters remembered how a Principia classmate had inspired her to make music her career. She also emphasized the importance of passion, persistence, and work ethic. "When you find the thing that you love," she said, "you just can't help but keep trying to do it."
