1977 Track & Field Team

1977 Track & Field Team

“I knew at the time that we had a special group of athletes . . . and never took that for granted. We were able to inspire and motivate each other to achieve great things.” —Robert Baker (C’78)

The 1977 men’s track & field team had consistency, depth, and balance. Their outstanding talent was on display in every event. Several athletes qualified for the NCAA National Championship, and team members still hold 19 places on Principia’s outdoor track & field top-ten list. The team set many school records, three of which stand today. “This group of men is truly one of the best teams in Principia history,” says Coach Larry Combs (C’65).
