Madelon Maupin (C’73), 2020

Prayer has guided Madelon Maupin throughout her career and life, and it brought her from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Principia College in 1969 where she was the College’s first biblical studies major.

Early in her career, Madelon worked for The Mother Church and The Christian Science Monitor, eventually becoming its national advertising director. Combining her business skills with her commitment to highly focused, content-rich communications, she spent 15 years in the newspaper industry, starting three business newspapers among other ventures. One of her papers, Orange County Business Week, was recognized as a California Top 10 newspaper.

Over the years that followed, Madelon managed a national career transition firm and headed a leadership consulting firm in Los Angeles, working with some of the film industry’s top companies. While working, she also obtained a master’s in theological studies with a focus on the Bible in 2008.

In 2012, Madelon left the business world to launch BibleRoads, a biblical education company that provides non-denominational talks, workbooks, and online courses for spiritual thinkers. Her goal is to help others unlock the Bible in a non-denominational way so that they can discover the Scriptures’ spiritual meaning and application to their lives. In her words, “I think of the Bible as God’s love letters to us.”

Over the last decade, she has traveled extensively in the Middle East, lecturing for Princess Cruises on their Mediterranean and Middle East trips as well as leading her own tours to Biblical lands. In 2018, Madelon spoke about Christian Science at the World Parliament of Religion. She has served as a member of the Mother Church’s national Ecumenical Team under the Committee on Publication and is a frequent contributor to Christian Science periodicals and online programs. For 17 years, she was on the board for Adventure Unlimited.

Madelon’s support of Principia has included serving as President and Secretary of the Alumni Association Board and teaching at several Summer Sessions over the years as well as traveling and lecturing on Principia Lifelong Learning trips.
