Paris to Prague
Principia alumni and friends joined Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish, Professor Emerita of Music, on a luxury European river cruise with an emphasis on music. The adventure began in the glorious city of Paris. Then, the group spent eight days aboard a top river cruise line, ending in the “Golden City” of Prague, with its famed Hradcany Castle and National Theatre Ballet. A smaller group opted for a post-trip extension to Vienna, “The City of Music,” to learn about Beethoven, Mozart, and Brahms and enjoy a concert at the Musikverein.

An adventurous group of Principia alumni and friends hiked across beautiful northern England with Chuck Wilcoxen, Principia College’s Assistant Athletic Director and Cross-Country Coach in July. As they trekked the length of Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site, that spans rolling fields and rugged moorland, with Roman forts, villages, and museums along the way.
Alaska Adventure Cruise
Alumni and friends joined us on an adventure cruise through Alaska’s Inside Passage with Karin Holser, founder of the St. George Island Institute and Dr. Laurance Doyle, director of the Institute for the Metaphysics of Physics at Principia College. We enjoyed uncommon and up-close encounters with wildlife as we explored the mountains, glaciers, and coastal rain forest of Glacier Bay National Park. We hiked around Mendenhall Glacier, explored Tracy Arm Fjord by guided watercraft, and learned the dynamic history of the Gold Rush boomtown of Juneau. See highlights from our trip below.
Fire and Ice
A group of alumni and friends embarked on a seven-day excursion to explore the geology of the Central Rocky Mountains. Highlights from the trip included visiting the famous geysers, mud pots, and hot springs at Yellowstone, hiking in the footprints of glaciers, viewing abundant wildflowers and wildlife (bison, elk, moose, bear, and birds), visiting the site of a potential super-volcanic eruption, and taking an exhilarating whitewater rafting trip on the Snake River.
