Program Overview

Castles, palaces, breathtaking scenery, engaging historic sites, and cultural treats—this musical tour of Lucerne, Salzburg, Munich, and Vienna is sure to delight! Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish, Principia College Professor Emerita of Music and our trip leader, will select five concerts for the group to attend at the Festivals in Lucerne and Salzburg. Other highlights include Neuschwanstein Castle, cruising the Danube, and a visit to Mozart's birthplace. Innsbruck and Mondsee are on the itinerary as well. Immerse yourself in history, beauty, and classical music on this unforgettable European journey.

The trip includes the following:

  • The services of a professional, multilingual tour director will be provided throughout the tour
  • 11 breakfasts, two lunches, four dinners
  • Quality hotels in Zurich, Lucerne, Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna
  • Concert tickets for seven concerts (four in Lucerne, two in Salzburg, and two in Vienna)
  • Air-conditioned motor coaches for ground transportation while touring 
  • Individual airport transfers for guests arriving and departing during the suggested times
  • Sightseeing as outlined on the itinerary, including any applicable admission charges
  • Sightseeing with local guides where applicable

Meet Your Trip Leader  

Professor Emerita of Music Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish began teaching at Principia College in 1978 and served on the faculty until retiring in 2014. A winner of the prestigious St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Competition and a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, she has earned music degrees from UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and Yale School of Music. During her tenure at Principia, Marie conducted the College orchestra and taught a wide variety of courses, including Fundamentals of Music, Chamber Music, The Creative World of Mozart, and an award-winning class of piano and flute students. Together with her musical family, she has performed for many of Principia’s continuing education programs and alumni weekends. She has also led several European trips for Principia and directed College music tours around the country. In 2014, Marie was awarded honorary alumni status.
