Trip Overview

Discover the land of the rising sun during this ten-night cruise aboard Oceania Cruises’ elegant Nautica. Embark in Tokyo and sail to Shimizu to bask in the serenity of woodlands and view the majestic Mount Fuji. In Kyoto, once the Imperial capital of Japan, witness breathtaking shrines and temples. In Hiroshima, stroll through gardens, dine at an upscale restaurant, or visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. Cruise along the sleek waters of the Kanmon Straits to Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. Known for its beaches, mountains and temples, Busan offers sweeping vistas of both nature and urban landscapes. In Nagasaki, experience four hundred years of tradition at the many monuments, parks, and museums. Enjoy spectacular views, shopping arcades, cultural eateries, and so much more before the ship returns to Tokyo.

Meet Your Trip Lecturer

Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish (HON'14), professor emerita of music, began teaching at Principia College in 1978 and served on the faculty until retiring in 2014. A winner of the prestigious St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Competition and a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, she has earned music degrees from UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and Yale School of Music. During her tenure at Principia, Marie conducted the College orchestra and taught a wide variety of courses. In 2014, Marie was awarded honorary alumni status. She is a member of the Principia Lifelong Learning faculty, teaching at Summer Session and has served as trip lecturer on several European Principia Lifelong Learning trips.
