Matthew Newton

Newton"Before I ever came to Principia, I had heard about so many of the phenomenal athletes that had come before me, . . . so to be mentioned in the same breath as those people is truly an honor."

An all-around athlete, Matt played football, basketball, baseball, and golf. In basketball, he set an NCAA record for all divisions with seventeen steals in one game. A two-time All-American in football, Matt broke four NCAA Division III receiving records and ranks among Division III leaders in five other receiving categories. He also set fourteen Principia records in receiving, scoring, and touchdowns, and won the Corde and Willard Hanzlik Athletic Award in 1994.
